(Nasalifya is leaning on a desk, speaking into the camera. A small graphic appears on the bottom left of the screen that reads: Nasalifya Namwinga Clinical Psychologist) - In moments when we're distressed, it's so important to remember that you are not alone. We are all experiencing this collective distress, which gives us the opportunity to also experience collective healing. When there's a lot of difficult things happening around us and in the world, it is perfectly normal to have strong emotional responses to that content. And those emotions might be anger, guilt, and sadness. That is a perfectly normal response to an abnormal situation. What you might be experiencing is something that we call collective distress, and in moments where we are experiencing collective distress, it is really important to lean into the collective hope that we can all have and shared spaces of collective healing. So collective healing is this beautiful space where we can all come together and heal together. And this can be online and in person, so it could be engaging with online platforms and forums where people have the same views and perspectives you do. And it might also involve meeting people in real life in rallies or protests or anything like that. That means that we can come together and have a shared space. So collective healing sits on top of other forms of access to care, which might be therapy, talking to a trusted adult or even engaging on online forums. It's so important to remember that you are not alone. We are all collectively experiencing this distress, which means we can all share in the healing. -END-
