Young people are so influenced about all the people they hang around, so their family, their friends, so it's vital. And having that good support network will really help their wellbeing and resilience going through in life. Sam: - Parents and carers are the biggest role models in our lives. Having a good relationship with my parents and other trusted adults in my community has been a huge part in giving me confidence within myself. Gregory: - We set boundaries for our young people. As an Indigenous boy growing up, my parents told me not to chase that little bird because that little bird will take me away from my camp. Ben: - Having trusted people around to guide me was so crucial for my upbringing. They didn't always necessarily agree with what I was doing, but at the end of the day, they supported me into my decisions and backed me all the way. Gregory: - Be a good listener before you talk to our young people. Sharing your cultural knowledge and being a good role model will help our young people to stand tall. -END-
